Christina Aguilera has been personally affected by domestic violence, and her song "Oh Mother" salutes her mother's courage as a survivor of domestic violence. She the "End Violence Against Women" campaign and taped a public service announcement for Lifetime.

A runaway herself, Mary J. Blige recently recorded a song with Ludacris called "Runaway Love." She is passionate about reaching out to young girls about how she overcame violence in her life.

Ashanti has raised awareness of domestic abuse, including her music video "Rain on Me." She was honored by Lifetime in 2004 for her efforts.

Both members of Big & Rich have sisters who are survivors of domestic violence; the song "Holy Water" is about this problem. They actively support the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The group was honored by Lifetime in 2005.

In 2003 Missy Elliott, a survivor of childhood domestic violence, was named the spokesperson for Break the Cycle, a nonprofit group that works with young people to end domestic violence. She and model Iman came up with a special lipstick for Iman's makeup line to raise funds for Break the Cycle.
