Children's Visitation and Exchange Center

The Child Visitation and Exchange Center (CVEC) was established by the Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Center in 1999 to promote the safety and welfare of the children and parents, and program staff during supervised visitation and to ensure the safety of a vulnerable parent at exchanges.

Supervised visitation provides a safe, neutral environment in which children can visit with their non-residential parent.  CVEC staff is present at all times to ensure a safe, supportive environment for both child and parent.

Monitored exchanges provide a buffer for children being exchanged between parents.  By utilizing the program, parents can exchange their child(ren) without having contact with each other.

Families may be referred to the program by court order, agency referral, attorney referral, or self-referral. CVEC must receive a copy of all pertinent court orders and service agreements from referring agencies. Referring agencies may need to provide additional background information if deemed necessary.

Before any services can be scheduled both parties, residential and non-residential, must call CVEC and set up an intake. An intake is the process CVEC must complete to obtain information regarding the services requested. The residential and non-residential parties will complete their intakes at different times. The intake generally lasts between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the circumstances surrounding the service requested. Supervised visits or monitored exchanges will be scheduled by CVEC staff after both intakes have been completed.

What is the Cost?

Intake (each party) - $30.00

Monitored Exchanges (each party) - $5.00

Supervised Visits - $20.00/hr
(This total is split between both parties unless the
order requires one party to pay all fees)

Monitored Exchange Obligations Form

Supervised Visit Obligations Form

Fees may be reduced, based on a sliding scale.

Supervised Visitation is scheduled for either 1 or 2 hours at a time. The residential party will park in the south parking lot and take the elevator up to the second floor, Suite 240.

The non-residential party will park in the west parking lot, go down the stairs outside and enter the door on the ground level and proceed to Suite 10, second door on the right of the hallway.

The non-residential party will wait in the lobby until security has collected their keys and cell phone and verified the residential party has arrived. CVEC staff will escort the non-residential party upstairs to the visitation room.

CVEC staff will escort the children from the residential party waiting in the lobby upstairs to the visitation room where the non-residential party is waiting. CVEC staff will stay with the children at all times while in the presence of the non-residential party. CVEC staff will document their observations during visitation and escort the children back to the residential party when visitation is over. The children and the residential party will leave and CVEC will release the non-residential party approximately 5 minutes later.
Monitored exchanges can be scheduled after both parties have completed their intake. The residential party and children will park in the south parking lot and take the elevator up to the second floor, Suite 240. The non-residential party will park in the west parking lot, go down the stairs outside and enter the door on the ground level and proceed to Suite 10, second door on the right side of the hallway. Once CVEC security has verified both parties have arrived CVEC staff will escort the children downstairs to the lobby where the non-residential party is waiting. The same process will occur when the children return with the non-residential party.

CVEC has the right to refuse and/or terminate services at any time. CVEC will not accept a case if reasonable safety for all family and staff members cannot be ensured. If CVEC's terms and conditions are not complied with, CVEC reserves the right to terminate services.
